Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into

'You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into' pretty much sums up how I looked at this album. Not being to too familiar with the band, I thought to myself "here is yet another in a long line of rave/indie/electro/punk bands that have emerged in the last two years". They have been compared to Daft Punk, Justice, Klaxons and Digitalism which I can understand since their music is predominately aimed at the dance floor (but they use a four piece band to deliver it).

Does It Offend You, Yeah? have already released singles for 'We are Rockstars' and "Let's make out',which I personal think are two of the weakest tracks on the album. I tend to like things a little more "rave" than "indie" and there are enough wicked bass lines, odd chirps and bleeps to make any clubhead get on the dance floor or at least get their head bobbing and feet tapping. There are even some thrash worthy tracks like 'With A Heavy Heart (I Regret To Inform You)' (my personal favorite, by the way) that left me with a very sore neck.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? also have no problem wailing away on the lead guitar which was a welcome surprise as a lot of other bands that sound similar tend to shy away from solid guitar work. The power riffs that are used throughout also go along with their 'The Who' like antics of destroying their instruments at the end of live shows. I also was happy with the use of real vocals in tracks like 'Being Bad Feels Pretty Good'.

The album opens with 'Battle Royale' and keeps one entertained till the very last notes of the aptly titled 'Epic Last Song' (which at one point begins to feel like a track 'The Killers' left on the cutting room floor). The Daft Punk comparison is earned on the track 'Weird Science', which really does sound like one of the Gallic act's b-sides. There is some filler (such as 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Doomed Now') and some wild and crazy tracks (like Attack Of The 60 Ft Lesbian Octopus, which almost sounds like something Mr Bungle would make) but the album as a whole will keep you rocking (or raving) till dawn.
